"Some updates could not be installed" KB928843 Internet explorer
Why do I get these messages from XP updater?
What does it mean?
What should I do to install them?

Fiirst it tells me that
"Some updates could not be installed"
And then it lets me to know what kind of them:
Security Update for Windows XP (KB928843)
Windows Internet Explorer 7 for Windows XP

I had a similar issue in the somewhat recent past. I don't recall which patch I had trouble with.

If I recall correctly, I was able to apply the update after shutting down the computer and then cold-booting. Have you tried that?

I see. It appears that I have got now the KB928843. In total. there are still 91 updates waiting to be installed on my computer. They want to be installed one by one.

Therefore, I should swich on and switch off my PC 91 times to get all of them.

Your first post mentioned only 2 updates. I was not aware you have over 90 updates to install.

Do you get the "Some updates could not be installed" notice for every update?

If you continue to have problems installing updates, then perhaps the C:\WINDOWS\WindowsUpdate.log file will provide some clues.
  1. Click Start > Run...
  2. Type/paste %windir%\windowsupdate.log in the "Open:" field.
  3. Click the OK button.
Scroll toward the end of the file for the most recent log information. I expect that will contain error codes/messages we can use to help you investigate.

You might find suggested solutions yourself by searching the Microsoft Knowledge Base for the error codes (or by Googling the error codes).

You might also find helpful information by pasting exact error messages in the following link.
Please keep us posted on your progress.
