New computer with XP Pro which I set up with my user ID with Administrator privilages. When I try to switch to Amin user......start/logoff ...then select "switch user "....I get a screen with User and Guest only....Administrator is NOT an option.

Ctl Panel/User options shows an Administrator ID already exists.

So how can I logon to the Administrator ID.

That's a hidden account that will be revealed when you press Ctrl+Alt+Del twice while at the logon screen. Then type Administrator for the account name and type any password you have assigned. If no password is assigned, just leave that blank and press enter.

Same section in Control Panel > User Accounts > change the way users log on or off > uncheck Use the Welcome screen

Start > Logoff John Doe > type Administrator as username, enter admin password if exists. Can also logon via Safe Mode.

Thnaks Tony & surferdude...I think I'll try the 'uncheck welcome screen' and see if that does what I need.
