Pete,

Sorry I am in panic mode and don't know what to do but all these articles are assuming I can even start in safe mode which I can't. When I start in safe mode I get the same error message so I can't get into my desktop at all to do anything.

Is there any other way.

Sorry about this. Thanks.

Another MS KB article which basically suggests a Repair install of XP which is what I was going to suggest before I Googled again ....

"Error Code: 0x80004005” error message when you install Windows XP
