xp home and xp pro

    can i run both os on 1 comp. "home & pro" Gateway 500 series. xp home 2002 sp 2 pentium 4 1500 MHz
    1.5GHz 640 MB ram.-- i plan to add more ram. can i run both os ? if so how?

    Sure can, just go ahead and install to a different partition than the other and the install software will detect and set up a dual boot for you without any further ado. It's one of the things XP does well.

    Then you will have the luxury of a system in reserve for those occasions when you get wild and reckless and crash one of them. ;)

    I dual boot a second copy of XP Home for use in testing software.

    xp home & pro

    I guess the answer to Why is I didn't remember how-to. the second part is I was getting bored. I needed something to try. people bring me old comp's to repair. I do. I don;t know the name of parts and I'm not sure how I idetify them "I do" I've repaired and upgraded quite a few 95 & up. I'm getting ready to go to school for comp. repair. I enjoy it. sorry for some off subject. just amswering a ?. And I will put both on 1 now. just for the something to do and learn.

    That's a great way to learn while you have no precious data to worry about. Full speed ahead and more power to you! It takes a lot of the fun out of messing with these things when we start to take them too seriously. It could be compared to playing golf, it starts out being great fun but when you start worrying about the score, it gets to be very upsetting. ;)

    I have xp. I don't have pro. I just wanted to try something I haven't done. :eek:
