Registry - cannot delete entry

I have three bad entries in the registry, which I am unable to delete. They are in HKLM\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS\CURRENT\VERSION\RUN, and they are marked (in a registry scanner) as "startup item is invalid".
This is right, as they are leftovers for software upgrades which I had difficulty installing, but have successfully now installed. Therefore these definately are no longer needed - and I suspect introducing a delay into the startup.
I have gone in in safe mode, and it appears that they are then deleted -but reappear when I go back in normal mode.

I have scanned the disk directory, and have no leftovers of the install routine as files..... running out of ideas (at my level of undersatanding)!

Hope soneone may guide me further.

Eric

registry -cannot delete entry

suggest you download regseeker (free) install and run and select clean the registry when complete, select all items and right click and delete.
Don't worry you can, before delettion, check backup. If there are invalid entries in your registry it will find them. I have used this program for several years and it does a good job.

Gee wiz guys, just go to Start > Run > type regedit > OK button.
Navigate to hklm/software/microsoft/windows/current version/run
and delete the values in right frame for each object you want to get rid of.

Thanks for 2 suggestions.
I like Regseek, nice featrures.
However, neither reply works!.
Regseek will find the wrong line. It won't delete it (XP just puts it back). If I set the option on the entry to Disable, Windows puts anther enty in to try to keep the entry active!
This is exactly as othew registry cleaners.
If I regedit to that line and delete it, it just reappears.
If I go in on safe mode, it dows appear to delete the line, but after rebooting in normal mode, it is back!
I know that XP does this with some entries, but there must be a way to force a correction to an unwanted entry line?
