I have a virus that causes Windows Explorer not to be able to open (long story). Anyway, I don't have a desktop, and therefore no Recycling Bin. Is there any other way to access it other than the desktop?

    Hllo KzTd,

    The Recycle Bin is RECYCLER.

    In order to see it:

Go to My Computer > at the top: Tools > Folder Options > View tab > Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files option.

You may get an "Access Denied message - being used by.." when trying trying to delete some files. In that case try in Safe Mode per calvnsc.

If that doesn't solve the Access Denied, then log in under the default Admin account and try then - you may even get the Destop back.

    Regards - Charles

KzTd--Perhaps you should attack the possible root cause of the problem--the virus.

P.S. After following charlesvar's suggestion, you still have to find it. Once hidden files are no longer hidden, run a Search on Recycler. You should find it in C:\ (or whatever drive has the Operating System). And you may find several folders inside Recycler--one for each user.

    Hello armestier,

    Good point :)

I was engrossed in the immediate problem and forgot about that.
