We had a bad Processor board. An exact replacement was not available.
    We installed the new board.
Windows XP boots to a window that says to try different modes.
All attempts end with the narrative that I may have a virus or have changed hardware.
It also suggets I try running chkdsk/F however I can not get to it.

The octal dump is as follows:

    0X0000007B, 0XF896D64B, 0XC0000034,
    0X00000000, 0X00000000

    Hi alschief and welcome,

With the MOBO change, you'll need to reinstall XP. It just won't tolerate such a massive hardware swap without putting up a fight. You could try a Repair Install of the existing Windows copy. If that doesn't work you may want to image a backup before doing a clean install. You can do that from a floppy or CD boot with many imaging softwares. Freebies are also available.

A Windows XP Repair install is the recommended way, hopefully you have your XP installation disk.

Boot from the WinXP CD (you may have to change a setting in your BIOS that allows you to boot from the CD). Do not choose the option to repair an XP installation using Recovery Console when prompted, choose the option to To set up Windows XP now press ENTER.

After more files have been copied, you'll get another selection screen where you should select the current XP installation, & the option To Repair the selected Windows XP installation, press R.
