Go to Start > Printers and Faxes > right-click your printer > Advanced > and you should see the "Print directly to printer" box to tag.

My printer won't do DOS so I can't test that for you. I don't think any of the common variety (cheapies) will print in DOS.

Is the printer a parallel printer, locally connected to your workstation, or is it using some other interface such as USB?

What port does the defined printer show under its properties sheet as using?

If you enabled under the Advanced tab of the Printer Properties sheet to use spooling, have you considered setting the 'Start printing immediately' option as active?

Are you on a network, and is this printer shared with others?

For the application itself, what printer port did you tell it to use? PRN, Lpt1: or some other setting?

From your description, the issue is that the application does not know how to signal that a print job has started, and when completed. There are third-party utilities that could help, but please tell us a little more about how you have things set.

    Local Printer connect to LPT1
The 'Start printing immediately' option active
The printer no share with other.
The application set to port LPT1

Set the local application to PRN: and test.
