Nothing nasty
Hello Oldbear,
your problem is quite simple : windows asks you if you want to change the password of your profile. XP can have more than one user, all set with or without a password, depending of the needs.
So to do that, just enter a new one. If you don't want to have a password matched with your profile name, right click on my computer, select manage, then click on Local users and groups, click on users then right-click on the profile name in question (administrator by default(it has to be the name appearing on the logon screen, where it asks you for a new password)) then Set password ; let it blank and click OK. You could click on users also, right-clicking on the same username, then Properties, unchecking User must change password at next logon, checking Password never expires.
The reason could be that the last owner set his profile with a password, with an expiration date.
