I have Windows XP and automatic updates to Windows is installed. I don't want automatic updates. What do I do to stop automatic updates? Thank you. Al Brown

Neither suggestion of the two above are completely correct.

In Steven R. Jones suggestion, he is assuming that you are using "Classic" instead of the default XP Control Panel Display. The brimis suggestion makes the same assumption.

XP Service Pack 2, (which is all anyone should be running) the settings change is made through the Security Center icon selection. If using the Classic control panel view, then both gentleman above are absolutely correct.

Alternatively, right click My Computer, Properties, and click the Automatic Updates tab to see the possible settings.
