unread mail alert at start up screen

When I start up my laptop, I get a message next to my profile icon telling me I have 1 unread email. When I check my email there is no new mail.

Any advice as to how to remove the message next to my profile icon and/or prevent alerts showing there would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to reply

ps I'm a novice so go easy on me LOL

Arie, followed your advice because I didn't really want to download anything, settings were already set to "0". Not being critical, I appreciate you trying to help, just thought you might want the feedback.

Steve downloaded TweakUI, problem solved.

Thanks to you both.
