Windows XP - lost 'Help and Support'

I have lost the brilliant inbuilt help in XP accessed through 'START | Help and Support' function. (Using the 'Start' button then 'Help and Support').

As a get-around I tried a desktop icon to C:\WINDOWS\Help\WINDOWS.CHM

This half works but I get error messages...
"HELPCTR.EXE - Bad Image", and "C:\Windows\Help\NVWCPENG.HLP is not a valid windows image".

Any ideas?

If you are running a nVidia card, try reloading the drivers for it. Might as well get the latest & greatest before you do though.

eh?

I'll try, but can't think of a reason why this should have anything to do with the 'Help' utility...

jps

any other ideas?

Thanks for the idea - unfortunately it made no difference.

(Presumably a 'nv*.hlp' file is an nvidia file?)

Any other suggestions?

HI: If you just lost it, why don't you do restore and try that.???? That is if you have XP or Goback. Can't hurt.

jps14 - best I could tell from the very limited info on the net, that is indeed an nVidia help file which is why I recommended trying a driver reload. Sorry it didn't work but it was pretty much a stab in the dark.

At this point, why not open a case with M$ tech support? They have some smart folks who know their system well and can probably get you fixed up. Should be a free support issue too.
