    Password problem after rebuild

I have rebuilt my Laptop os with Windows Pro and IIS after a disc burn out and am having trouble with the user permissions.

    (1) When I attempt to access localhost, over the local network, the os asks me for user name/password. How can I disable this request so username/password is not required by me to access http://localhost

    (2) When other machines try to access my laptop on the network, they get asked again for user name/password. How can I give these workstations access with being requested to supply user name/password.

    I have administrator privileges.

Its quite a while since I rebuilt a windows OS from scratch, so any help on these points, how to correct and the cause, would be much appreciated.

    Cheers

If you typed into your Browser:
    http://localhost

You are trying to talk to yourself. localhost == 127.0.0.1 an address local to your machine.

Yes, Bill, that's true, but on the Windows XP Pro systems I've seen, a call to http://localhost doesn't normally respond with a user name and password, as it doens't make sense.

I thought this might be an indication of what is wrong with the secutiry settings on my laptop.

    Cheers
