I have had several problems with w-xp and decided to try and do a repair with the install disk (genuin) It will stop and say "The w-xp on your comp, is newer than the disk" Is this because of having SP2 installed?

Hello Old creeky and welcome to the Board :)

    The answer is yes.

The way to get around this problem is to slipstream XP and SP2 and create a bootable CD incorporating SP2.

    Hi Old creeky,

I hear you :) but I think worth a shot. You won't be doing any damage - the CD creation process will either work or not and at worst you spent time.

    Regards - Charles

Old creeky, you don't have a "system" now, so
sounds like the way to go
    :)

You have a blank "canvas ", you can put on it anything you want to try.
    :)

...and wipe it off if you are not happy.
