Hello Keith,

Three fixes for this in this thread:

Unwanted folder opening on computer startup?

Unfortunately the original poster never did post back and tell us the outcome

Please post back

I've modified your title.

Regards - Charles

I had this problem. For me, it was something to do with a badly written driver for my Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2. Goddez1 found me a fix that worked at the following address: http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs...tem32opens.vbs

*********************

Quote from Goddez1:

This behavior also occurs if there is a String value that contains only a single quote character (") as the Value data in the following Registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if a null, incomplete, or damaged entry exists in the registry.
RESOLUTION
WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

Use Registry Editor to view the following two Windows registry keys:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Run
Verify that all the values in these keys do not contain any incorrect, incomplete, or null entries (such as "").

Hope this helps

THIS ONE WORKED

Hi jbarker,

Go into msconfig.

From the Start menu, click on run.
Type msconfig and ok.

Then in the System Configuration utility, click on the Start tab.

If there is a blank line or any reference to the folder in the Startup Item column, uncheck the line.

Afterwards when you boot up, you'll get a message from the System that you have changed the startups, tick the box on the left to shut the message off.

Regards - Charles
