Desk top icons move even thought locked

Hello,

I have searched for answers and there are some questions re: this desk top icon problem, but not that fit my peculiar situation.

I have both align to grid and lock web items on desk top checked. For a while the icons stay where I want them, but after a while, they move back up in a non-level assortment approximately to the last line of the other icons. The rest of the icons stay on the upper left top since I put them there for this testing time.

Thanks for any help.

Also, I use a Dell Inspiron lap top attached to a Westinghouse 19" LCD Monitor.

Do not have auto arrange or run cleanup wizard clicked

You have no provision to "lock" icon placement.

I use a reskit utility to save/restore icon placement. You can download the needed DLL and instructions here: http://users.rcn.com/taylotr/icon_restore.html

Thanks for your reply.

Now have a new computer - the one about which I was asking was a Dell.

Possibly will not have the same problem with new Toshiba that has XP Pro instead of XP home.
