    Windows Explorer

Is there a way to set Windows explorer to the expanded view as the default? It is annoying and time consuming to have to manually open the C drive every time I use Windows explorer.

    Hi bobsynth
    Welcome to the boards!
Until someone comes along with the correct way to do it..how about a dirty way?
    Into a run command......paste this:
    C:\windows\explorer.exe /e, /root,

    *edit*
    Hmmmm........wonder if this would work?

    *edit* *edit*
    One last idea?
What if you highlighted your hard drive (Or any folder that you want expanded for that matter)......then pressed the Asterisk key on your numeric keypad? (*)

Right-click the Windows Explorer shortcut and select Properties. In the dialog box, click the Shortcut tab. Add to the end of the Target line " /e," (without the quotes) followed by the path to the point/folder which you wish to open as the default expanded view (without the brackets!). For example:-

    /e, C:\WINDOWS

I must admit to having consumed at least a dozen cups today. I think that maybe I'm becoming increasingly addicted to the stuff. I suspect that my nocturnal pacing is starting to annoy my wife, so maybe it's time to cut back :)

Ah well, you'll be glad to hear that I have a rather enjoyable fortnight ahead of me so, even though the weather is currently appalling, I shouldn't be around quite so much for the next few days :D

    I'm sorry

Hmmm. I wonder what obscenities were edited out :D ;)

What if you tried as Brett suggested and used:
    C:\windows\explorer.exe /e, /root,
    in the shortcut target?

Make sure that you're putting a space between the end of the existing text in the Target line and the new text.

Thanks Brett. The space at the end did the trick. Dumb Me! Thanks to everyone for all the help. I'm going to like this BB. Hopefully I can contribute and help someone sometime. I have an internet club for Musicians who play a Ketron synthesizer. We help one another all the time. Check it out at http://www.angelfire.com/ms/synthmuzic/index.html
