Default "Folders" panel in "My Computer"

How do I have there be a "Folders" panel (to the left on the display) as the default status when I launch "My Computer"?

In My Computer, go to Tools>Folder Options>File Types.

Click once on "[NONE] Folder" to select it, click the Advanced button.

Click once on "explore" to select it, click the "Set Default" button, click OK and close the Folder Options window.

The change will show when you close My Computer and re-open it.

Miz--I'll be darned. Again Windows shows its redundant ways. I have been using View|Explorer Bar and check or uncheck what I wanted or did not want in the left panel. To be sure that sticks, Tools|Folder Options|View tab|click "Apply to all folders".
