    Hi,
    Usually you guys are pretty quick in response, so my Q

    Lnk files were associated with Word program
    Removed Association through Folder Options - File Types OK
    But now when selecting any Lnk file, Windows states what do you want to open this unknown format with?

    So what does a Lnk file associate with directly?

    The extension Lnk is associated with the Lnkfile which is more commonly known as a Shortcut.

    To repair your apparent misassociation, open a command window and type:

    assoc.Lnk=Lnkfile

    press enter and you should be good to go.
