I like to place icons in certain places on my desktop. I'm used to being able to do that in W98. I just got a new PC with WXP. Icons would not stay where I put them. So, I right clicked on the desktop, and noticed that "Auto Arrange" was checked. I unchecked that, and things got better, but I still couldn't place then exactly where I wanted. So, next I unchecked "Align to grid ". Then, I could place the desktop icons exactly where I wanted them, but they won't "stick ".

For instance, I tried to place a few icons almost to the extreme right of the screen. They, will stay there if I go to Start->Logoff->Switch Users, and click on my own login icon (to get right back to my own desktop). However, if I click on my wife's login icon, then from her desktop I go to Start->Logoff->Switch Users, and the click on my own login icon again, the icons that I placed to the extreme right of my desktop have moved in towards the middle of the screen about 2 inches. What's up with that, and can I prevent that from happening?

    Thanks.

I use a great little thing that fixes your icon replacement on the desktop. You can Download it from here

No problem Bill, yours is the direct route :)

I do like to point people to sites like Kellys, just to let users know that sites like that exist.

    Regards - Charles
