for the longest time, my recycle bin is a bit messed up. i can delete a file and I hear it go into the recycle bin. when I open the recycle bin, nothing appears to be there. If I go to "empty the Recycle Bin" it gives me the pop-up saying that there are 12 files there. It's always 12 files, regardless if I delete 200 jpegs. always 12 files and nothing ever appears to be in the recycle bin.

    Any suggestions?

I went there, and they require you to pay to see the answer.

RGettler--Regret that. I registered some years ago, so maybe they changed policy.
There are many suggested solutions for the problem. I am not sure whether I can ethically reproduce them here.
    One you might try is

Right-click the Recycle Bin, and then click Properties.
Check the "Display delete confirmation dialog" check box.
    Click OK.
Right-click the Recycle Bin, and then click Empty Recycle Bin.
When you are prompted to Confirm File Delete, click Yes to successfully delete the folder contents.

Or go to http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_abc.htm, click on R and scroll to Recycle.
One of Kelly's quick fixes is #64 on this page
