    Hi All,

I have a OLE application into which I can drag and drop shortcuts. And upon double click the shorcut opens particular application. It works fine with WIN 2000 OS. Whereas WIN XP pops up "Security Warning - Unknown Publisher ". How do I stop this message? I'm aware of 'gpedit.exe' but I don't want to disable the feature for all the ".exe" files. Is there any way to avoid security pop-up for certain exe's?

    Thanks in Advance,
    StraightQn

When the box pops up, click on the more info button. Should see an always allow type option.

    Hi Steve,

The Dialog box gives me only two options - Run and cancel. When i click on Run the exe is executed.

I know this is the security feature in WIN-XP. But I want to bypass this only for selected exes.

    Thanks and Regards,

Do you see an "always ask before opening this file" option?

No, I don't see that. If that was there, it would have solved 50% my problem :)

k, check IE's tools/advanced again and see the 'allow active content' options in security section. there's also a 'allow activx controls w/ unsigned publishers' option i think. i'm running beta7 now so ... not sure on ie6

i'd also check if u've got any firewall/spyware/trojan types in startup and kill them to see if it's them objecting.

while not having IE6 installed, i'd also take a look at the local zone in IE's security settings. maybe look at the options there. it may be that the 'local zone' security is blocking this.

Probably the EXE file has to be (digitally) signed.

You get the same things with downloads in IE.

    Hi Skeet/Arie,

I have tried all the options in IE. And I know that the exe's which i'm trying to execute hasn't got a Digital Signature. These are the exe's which I have built using Installshield.

But I observed the same behaviour when I tried to execute "Acrobat reader7.0" shorcut after dragging it into my application.

Let me know if you can provide me a pointer on how to block that security warning only for 'those' exes.

    Thanks n Regards,
    leena
