Does it only do this when you run media player? What about other music playing software?

    Hello emmstra,

Right click My Computer > Properties > Advanced tab > Under Startup and Recovery > Settings > untick Automatically restart under System failure.

This will give you a blue screen giving you more details.

When did this start? Did you install WMP10 and this happened from the get go?

    Regards - Charles

    i am not quite sure!
i bought this new pc - i installed windows xp pro sp2 from a slipstreamed cd.
i first noticed that while i was working in pinnacle studio 9.3 plus doing a movie from some avi files taken from my video camera.
And mostly when i use media player to listen to my mp3's. it starts well but suddenly in the middle of the song it happens.
i downloaded and used the DebugWiz from this site to check the mini dump and it told me "Probably caused by : RtkHDAud.sys ( RtkHDAud+179e98 )" among others...
if someone can read this mini dump file and find out something i could post it..
    thank you all for advanced!!!

Be careful what you check in CCleaner before running Analyse - It's a good program, but, as with all cleaners, should not be given it's head :)

    0x1000007F 0x00000008 0x80042000 0x00000000 0x00000000

I received STOP 0x1000007F 0x00000008 0x80042000 0x00000000 0x00000000 repeatedly for two weeks straight on two identical production systems. I swapped and tested every single component, and the STOP error persisted. It was when I finally narrowed down the problem to the motherboard that I discovered the culprit: Readtek HD Audio (and the nVidia GeForce 7900GT).

The Abit AW8-MAX motherboards use a PCI-Express card to utilize the Realtek High Definition Audio; which works fine when a VGA Compatible display adapter driver is used. However, the v1.15 driver that came on the CD-ROM did not seem to work well when the nVidia GeForce 7900GT was installed using driver versions 83.91 WHQL, 84.21 WHQL, and 84.43 Beta.

I went to Realtek and downloaded the latest HD Audio drivers, and now all is well. Here's the link: http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads...s=2004061&Software=True&title=HD Audio CODECs

Hopefully this helps you avoid days of troubleshooting.
