Games Disappeared From Start/Programs Menu

The Games selection in Start/Programs menus has disappeared from a friend's computer. If I perform a "Search" for Games, the games are listed and I can open them from that listing. In the Windows Components option of the Add/Remove Programs, all the games are checked. So they are there - just the menu option disappeared. I was able to create a shortcut to the desktop so the games can be used but would like to get the menu listing back.

I started to "...remove..." the games and then add or reinstall through the Windows Components portion of Add/Remove to see if that would do the trick. But before I do anything , I thought I would get advice from this board. Thanks.

I think I'd just make new shortcuts for them in the start menu. Right click on the start button and choose "explore all users". When windows explorer opens it'll have "start menu" highlighted in the left pane. Just under that you'll see a "programs" folder. Click on it and then in the right pane, right click on a blank spot and choose new>folder. Name the folder Games and then double click on it to open it. Then create shortcuts to the games in this folder. When you're done, you should end up with a games folder in the start menu along with the shortcuts you created in it.

Use windows explorer (winkey-e) and go to documents and settings/all users/start menu/programs, and make a folder called games. You can place shortcuts to each game in that folder.

Take the check out of them in the Install Windows Components, reboot the machine, go back and put the check in and they should be there again. Been there and done that before on 4 or 5 other people's PC's.

Got the problem fixed yesterday following Zander's suggestion. Forgot to promptly post so apologies to Sparrow and MrBill. However, it was interesting to see MrBill's suggestion as it is essentially the same as what I initially planned to do so I guess that route would have also worked. Thanks to all for responding.
