Hello everyone it's the first time for me to make a post in this forum so i hope that i am doing it correctly. Here goes!
When i first boot up my computer all the links in my favourites list work perfectly but if i leave the computer for a short while and then try to surf the net by clicking on a link in my favourites list nothing happens? All i get is that the page could not be displayed. The only way i can get the links to work once again is to re-boot the computer. I have only had the computer about six months. I am running Windows XP Home Edition and update + run all my security and anti-spyware programs on a daily basis. Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance. Granv

Assuming you're running Windows XP and have cable or DSL internet access, right click on My Computer, left click on Properties. Go to the Hardware tab, click on the Device Manager button.

Scroll down to Network Adapters and click on the plus sign to the left to expand the category. Double click on the network card listed there. Go to the Power Management tab and uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power," click OK and OK again and close Device Manager. See if that fixes the problem.

Hello Miz would just like to say thanks for replying so quickly and trying to help. Right, i am on Broadband here in the UK but when i click on the plus sign opposite Network Adapters and expand the category i am given a choice of three. 1394 Net Adapter, D-Link AirPlus G DWL - G122 Wireless USB Adapter (rev.B) and, finally, Realtek RTL 8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC (which is disabled). I could not find the Power Management tab. So could i please ask you for futher advice on this matter. Many Thanks Granv

    Double click on this one.
    D-Link AirPlus G DWL - G122 Wireless USB Adapter (rev.B)

In the window that opens there should be a power management tab at the top. The 1394 Net Adapter is your firewire port and has nothing to do with you network connection. The Realtek is a network adapter that could be used for connecting to the internet but it's disabled so it's not being used. My guess is it's a NIC that's built into the motherboard. The D-Link one is the one that has to be being used right now.

    Hi Zander
Sorry to be such a nuisance but when i did double click on the D-Link Adapter there was still no Power Management tab in sight. the window that did appear only had the following tabs: General, Advanced, Driver and Details.
I did click on the advanced tab and these were the options on view:
Auto Reconnect Mode, CAM when AC Power, Fragment Threshold, Local Administration MAC Network Ad, Network Type, Power Saving Mode, Radio On/Off, ATS Threshold, and SSID?
