Try this. Open any folder and click on tools>folder options>file types. Find chm in the list of file types, click on it once to highlight it and then click on the advanced button. Under actions, click on open to highlight it and then click the edit button. Where it says application used to perform action it should say this.
    Code:
     "C:\WINDOWS\hh.exe" %1
If your's is different try changing it. The path to windows may be different for you depending on which drive you have windows installed on so you'll have to change it accordingly if it's not installed on drive c. Then, if it's not already checked, put a checkmark in the box next to the line that says use DDE. Where it says application put "hh" (without the quotes) and where it says Topic, type System. Then close things and try a help file.

Is it only chm type help files that don't work? Does help and support in the start menu work?

The Help file on the Start Menu does not work, I did what you suggested and it did not work. Also when I went to find CHM files it said to the right of it (Compiled HTML file). Thank you so must for what you are trying to do for me. Gus
