I recently can't always cut and paste, this just started (using XP Pro). I can cut and paste most of the time with FireFox browser, but my wife can no longer cut, paste or delete with her Hotmail. Also I can't cut and paste something I've put in my Documents. What setting could have changed?

Also another recent problem when I start a program say Canon Easy Print for example when you go from one screen to another the second screen doesn't overlay the first screen, it's minimized in the bottom tray. Another example when I click on Control Panel and then Add/Remove when that screen comes up it is minimized, what setting has changed on me? Thanks!

Are you referring to web pages? Many sites with copyright material (and some with not copyright) have scripts on the page to disable the right click menu or portions of it (such as copy and save)

mccoady--I understand this is happening only some of the time on certain emails, webpages, text files, etc. Correct? "Sometimes" can be hard to fix.
And I presume you mean Copy and paste--not Cut (certainly not from webpages).
Also you reference that the problem often occurs on email pages. You cannot "Cut" from certain email messages, such as those in the Inbox, though you should be able to Copy.
Are both you and your wife using the same keyboard?
You could see if the problem is with the Copy function by Copying and then opening your Clipboard. Is the copied material there? If no, or you do not have Clipboard installed, that could be the problem. If yes, that would suggest the problem is with the Paste function, but I do not know how to solve that, other than a System Restore to a date before the problem started.
I suppose there also is an outside chance Start|Run|type sfc /scannow|OK might help. Have your WinCD ready to insert into the CD-ROM drive.

If this has only started recently, have you added any new soft/hardware just before it started? You could uninstall.

Though it would only be a work around, I am sure you know there are at least three different methods to copy and paste.
All start with Highlight with mouse. Then
    1) MenuBar Edit|Copy. Move to program where you want to Paste. Edit|Paste.
    2) Control+C. Move to program where you want to Paste. Control+V.
    3) Right click on highlighted material. Left click Copy. Move to program where you want to Paste. Right click in window. Left click Paste.
Often combinations of the above work. The Copy part puts the copied material into ClipBoard, from which any method for pasting should work.

I guess I really didn't explain my problem very well, I apologize. I can't copy and paste anything that's in my email (Outlook Express) or anything I've saved from my emails to My Documents. Also my wife uses a Hotmail account for her email and she can't copy and paste anything either. We both had no problem in the past doing this but at some point something must have changed, but I don't know when (we both use same keyboard). No I didn't know there were other ways to copy and paste except the 3rd method you listed. Do you think some setting changed or it's not as simple as that?

Okay I just tried something, I held down Control+C and that let me highlight text in my email and use method 3 which is what I've always used. When I try to copy and paste text from a website I have no problem just using method 3, does this make sense? I guess I can just use Control+C to highlight, copy and paste any text I want to move in the future, but it sure seems strange method 3 only works on web pages now.

mccoady--Glad to hear at least one method works.
Not sure if it is worth the effort to sfc /scannow or to try a System Restore to a date prior to the problem.
And sometimes you find things are all well after a reboot.
