    Jan,

Not sure if I can help, but I have a couple questions for you. What program did you end when you did Ctrl-Alt-Delete? What program were you working with? What was in the cascading windows? Error messages or something else? Does this happen every time you work with a certain program, or was it a one time occurrence so far? If there are any more details you can give, it might help some of the experts here.

i was at windowsbbs and closed it out and it went crazy,i had windowsbbs all over my desktop and that was what was on the task manager, the only thing on the task manager. no error message, just lots of windowsbbs.

its not happened again, but its disconcerting as all get out.i cant think of any i did to get twenty-eight windows. i think that i had just finished posting about the other computer that is trying to drive me crazy when it happened.

should i just figure that working the kinks out,it is a new computer and just learn to be a bit faster on ctrl-alt-del for the task manager. thats all the information i can give because thats all i know. sorry

    Jan,

That is definitely strange and I understand you wanting to know what it is. My first thought would be a problem with the browser. Hopefully, just a one time thing. If you run multiple virus/adware scans and they come up clean, I wouldn't worry about it. If you find something in the scans, post back. Otherwise, I'd wait until it happens more or with different programs. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Jan - I've had that happen to me a few times and on several different XP PCs - only with IE and never with any other application that I can remember. I still haven't figured out the cause but I have started just using the power button to shut down and all is well when I restart.

I'm pretty sure it isn't some button I've pressed or something similar but dang me if I know what it is. Not a virus, not spyware, not hardware going bad so the major nasty possiblities are ruled out and it is infrequent enough I have just quit worrying about it.
