Open a cmd window (start -> run -> cmd & OK)

Dir /b c:\somefolder > c:\dir-list.txt

Open c:\dir-list.txt in Excel

Note that if you want subdirectory contents

Dir /b /s c:\somefolder > c:\long-dir-list.txt

Karen's Directory Printer

Select the required attributes, save it to file and then parse it back into Excel, if you want each to be in a unique column.

Good freeware

I came across a neat little utility called Cathy. It's tiny & will list all the files in a folder/sub folder. You can just copy & paste straight into a spreadsheet, db or word processor. The URL for download is...

http://www.snapfiles.com

Then follow the links...
Freeware > System Utilities > Disk Cataloging

I find it very useful indeed
