sure on that spelling? no google hits there but ... do a local search for the file to see it's location. often enuff to give u the clue about what is failing. turn on search in system files/folders too.

my guess = some burn app as CDIO is there but ... just a guess.

u can also peruse the system/application events from event viewer to see if any specific info is there.

I moved the file from the prefetch folder to a new folder which I created on desktop. I then restarted the computer with no error popups. Everything seems to be running normal till now. If something fails to work I willl replace the file and write back for any further help. Till than, best regards,

prefetch is normally a 'cache' so ... the file should exist elsewhere as well. curious that it's only in prefetch but ... u can safely delete EVERYTHING in prefetch if u want

the file re appeared again in the prefetch folder and had the same error while shutting down. The problem is to find with which program it is associated and try to see if I can do without it. The last thing I have done which I can remember before this problem came was installing a new Toshiba PCX2600 cable modem

check u'r search criteria. if it's in prefetch, it's on the system elsewhere for the most part.

    u can also do:

    start/run CMD
    dir \filename.ext /s

where filename.ext is the file u'r lookin for

I removed all files from prefetch except layout.ini, restarted computer, I opened the prefetch folder and found it is still empty(except layout.ini), now I started using programs and after every new program I use I check the prefetch, to try to identify the program using the eudycdio file, till now in the prefetch folder there are 50 files but not eudycdio. I restarted the computer again with no problems.

curious if u ran the DIR \filename.ext /s?

IF the file is on the system, this command should locate it ;) ... the location may yield some info as to it's origin. then u can decide what to do about it. eg - kill it, update it, replace w/ like kind etc

while monitoring prefetch MAY turn up the filename when it happens to load, u should just plain search for it ;)

prefetch is a cache for program load. it is NOT the orig location and will NOT tell u where that is.

command looks right. if u got 'file not found' ... it's not there or it's not on c:. do u have other drive letters assigned? if so, repeat the dir command on each drive a la:

    dir d:\filename.ext /s
    dir e:\filename.ext /s
    ...

but since u've got no issue on shutdown ... u could just ignore me too ;)

I tried to search in other partition but found nothing. Is it possible that this file was a stray.

based on u'r search, unless it's a hidden/system file, i'd say it's not there. but u CAN append /AHS to u'r DIR commands to make it 'see' hidden and system attributes. can't hurt.

u'r probably better off using the normal search function in windows and just modifying it to 'include system/hidden files/folders' tho. it's easier and will also let u search everything in one shot. u must change the options tho as it defaults to 'no' for these
