For some time now, I have double vertical lines, about ½" apart, on my screen. They simply come and go and I can’t get rid of it. I was thinking it was my screen and since I was thinking about upgrading it, I bought a new screen. NO GOOD. It was all good at first but as the time went on the lines returned. Sometimes shutting the computer off and turning it back on takes care of the problem for a while but not always.

    ANY IDEAS??

Most likely a video card/driver problem. I suggest you uninstall the drivers and reinstall, but before you do that look for updated drivers on the manufacturer's web site.

If this fails to cure the problem power down the computer, remove the video card, clean the contacts with a soft pencil eraser and reseat.

If the problem remains and the card is PCI as opposed to AGP try it in another slot.
