If I want to install Win XP onto an old (read: small 1.96) HD, do I have to worry about files on the CD extracting larger than they exist on the CD? And if the install works, how much room will be left over for other apps?

    Thanks.

    Harpo,

Just my "Windows" folder alone is 1.94GB. There's another 5GB of *stuff* on that partition. I keep all my program files and documents on other partitions. With as inexpensive as new harddrives are... buy a new one and save yourself a lot of trouble. HTH

since that hard drive is so small, it may also be possible (seems like an older pc?) that there may be comaptibility issuse's as well. meaning, that maybe an upgraded pc might, just might be in your future instead of installing XP on the one you have now.
