The Active X controls are registry entries.

What do you need to do?

Gladd8tor--C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files on my PC.
Another way to access is IE Tools|Internet Options|General tab|Settings|View Objects.

Hi ... Well I don't want to get into a long story as to how or who but I have one activex which is from a website that I don't care to visit and it got install on my computer , I would like to remove it , Now from Welshjim post I did find what I believe is the one but , What Newt just mention I didn't removed if its hidden in the registry , So where in the registry do they get stored ? Also because I do use IE6 browser I'm curious as to the " Manage Add-ons " area if something is listed in browser section and you select it to be disable that that mean its been removed ? Thanks

If you have established through Jim's route to View Objects the ActiveX download in question via > highlight object > right click > properties .... just delete it. Should you visit that site again the control will be downloaded again. Deletion should remove any relevant registry entries too.

Each and everyone of those controls can be deleted - they will be downloaded again when you revisit sites which require them. In fact the Disk Cleanup Wizard marks them for deletion by default.

However, this is unwise as the ActiveX controls for Windows Update and Windows Validation are stored here.

Hi ... Thanks for your input but, Those are not the ones I would like to remove from the Manage add-ons , So once you disable any listed ones in the manage add-ons area , Are they then removed , Or are they still stored somewhere ? Thanks

I was making the point that Disk Cleanup - which deletes ALL the Downloaded Program files by default should be avoided as some/most of these files are required.
I would not think so as you can re-enable them at a later date, if required.

Have you searched the Registry for a key word associated with that particular ActiveX control?

    Hello Gladd8tor,

It show about 20 entery of it , I was just wandering if I delete them would that remove them from the Manage add-ons area ?
Yes, if you removed them, but you write "them ", are you removing more than just what you want to remove?

Make sure that jvPT's restore option is set and that you make a manual System Restore point and have confidence that least at one works.

    Regards - Charles

Ok what I have done was I try one like Charlesvar suggested and it seem to of work , so I then restored back, when back again to use jv16 but , this time I use the back up feature jv16 has and selected to remove all entery , Now though I am curious in the Manage add-ons area , what does this mean when you notice a entery like this below ??

Yahoo! Audio Conferencing ( Not verified ) yahoo! Inc, Enabled ActiveX Control yacscom.dll

The Not Verified is what i'm concern about , Is this just a missing dll file ?

    Again TIA ....

No, it doesn't mean a missing file, it's a matter of windows not recognizing it officially the way a Symantec entry would be, meaning it's not approved or disapproved of.

    Regards - Charles
