HP Photo Smart "All in One" 2410 (Printer and Scanner) gives the below message whenever an attempt is made to access the scanner from the computer, which is a late model, fully loaded Dell, using Windows XP Home. If the message is answered with a No, perhaps 8 t0 12 times, the scan will eventually take place. Messages to HP have proved fruitless. I tried three different times and got three different technicians and three different answers. One said the problem couldn't be fixed and the other two said the problem was Microsoft's doing. I haven't tried Microsoft yet.
Several programs, including Paint Shop Pro, have been tried. Also attempts to scan to a computer program from the scanner gave the same results.
    I downloaded and installed
the latest driver but the problem still persists.

    The message follows:

An error has occurred in the script on this page.
    Line: 21
    Char: 2
Error: Object doesn't support this property or method.
    Code: 0
    URL: file://C:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\ Skins\hp1\sc\scan.htm

Do you want to continue scripts on this page? Yes/No

Check and perform the following if needed:

Open the IE Browser and click Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > and tag the two boxes regarding Disable Script Debugging > OK out of there.

    locate this file:
    file://C:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\ Skins\hp1\sc\scan.htm

open it in your browser and click View Menu\Source and post the source of that page here.

Chances are that the page has a script that is incorrectly coded. Also, if using XPSP2 then scripts on that page will NOT run unless you go to:
Internet Options/Advanced Tab/Security section and put a check next to "allow active content to run files on My Computer ".

Thanks TonyT. You're suggestion looks interesting. I will pursue it as soon as I can gain access to the computer in question. I am doing this to help a lady friend of my wife. I will report back in a day or so. This problem has existed for a long time so I am going to doggedly pursue it with help from you forum gentlemen. Thanks again.
