    I think it's pathetic that you can't use Task Scheduler without having to log on with a password.
    Anyone figured a work around for this?

    I DO NOT want to start using a password to log on.

    Hi Ace,

    If you read the wording when asking for a PW, it says "might not run" without a password :rolleyes:

    I personlly have not used TS, so take it FWIW.

    Have you checked the registry. I don't know if this works because I've never tried it but it may be worth a shot. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ System \ CurrentControlSet \ Control \ Lsa \ limitblankpassword. 0=disabled, 1=enabled(default). If it's set to 1 modify it to 0. I'll have to experiment on my machine just see if it works.

    I've experienced the same thing using task scheduler. The only work around I know of is to set a password and then use TweakUI to log you on automatically. Works for me.

    Hey Zander,

    When I tried scheduling something yesterday, I got past the point of having to give a PW without giving one and a task did get scheduled - should have made that clear yesterday. I tried with Ad-Aware and took it out right away though.

    Regards - Charles

    I can schedule the task just fine without a password. The problem is, the task won't run when it's supposed to unless you have a password. Did you let the task run or did you delete it before it ran? If the latter, try scheduling another one and see if it runs when it's supposed to.

    Also please see:

    ms-its:C:\WINDOWS\Help\ntcmds.chm::/schtasks.htm

    and the older version:

    ms-its:C:\WINDOWS\Help\ntcmds.chm::/at.htm

    Copy/paste those links and I think it'll work. If not, run:

    %windir%\hh.exe ms-its:C:\WINDOWS\Help\ntcmds.chm::/ntcmds.htm

    on your Start > Run window and select SCHTASKS or AT
