    Hey!
Lately when I dried to install WinXP like I did thousand of times before, I've encounted a problem while installing. A BSOD has appreared with "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL ". Luckily I passed through that by trying endlessly and at the end somehow I manage to install WinXP. The problem is that now whenever I try to start my computer, I receive this message, saying that I need to check a new hardware I've installed recently etc. The point is that I have no clue what should I check since nothing is installed anyway...
It also says there something about changing BIOS memory options such as cashing and shadowing. I couldn't find it in the BIOS menu...
I don't know what to do with this problem, at the moment I'm using safe mode. I can't contact Microsoft for various reason, not my computer labaratory.
    Technical Information:
    ***STOP: 0x000000D1 (0x0000000, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0xF98684BC).

Thank you...- I've looked at threads regarding this error but I couldn't find any that would answer my question since it didn't happen because I installed something...just WinXP

Make sure your PC is set to create a dump file when it crashes then run the dump file through the process recommended Here and post the results.

    Introduction to Stop Errors

"Stop errors in a nutshell are errors that are serious enough to cause Windows to stop. They are similar to the blue screen errors that were present on Windows 9x, however there is no option to try and resume the session in a Windows NT Stop Error (Windows 2000 and all XP members included). "

I tried to do all that was suggested but no good.
First, I made sure that the computer is writing a dmp file yet it's not...
Secondly, I couldn't find that error, and most of the things referred to newly installed software etc. Once again, at frist I encountered this error while installing WinXP, then there was something about physical memory dump at the bottom. But now when I get the BSOD there's nothing about it, just what I wrote...Any other suggestions?

Stop 0x000000D1 or DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL You most probably have a driver problem - make sure that all the drivers, especially the chipset drivers for the motherboard and the video card drivers are XP compatible and the latest.

Look for some clues in Event Viewer and post any relevant ones here.

Look in Device Manager for any items flagged with a yellow '!' or '?'.

Everybody says that it's about a faulty driver or something like that, buw I'm all the time saying that this has accured when I was installing windows, and now whenever I try to load the computer, even without anything installed...No faulty driver, all the dirvers are WinXP capable, everything was just perfect till now...
The whole story is this: My computer stopped working, like. Dead, so we took it to a lab and there they told are that one chip was out of place and that's all. And they repaired it...Now in needed to reinstall windows because of some silly problem that has been bugging for months and I had no problems with it. So unfortunately, my computer is **** old (though has been through an upgrade), and the WinXP setup (it's burnt..) is not loading, so I usually install Win98 and then upgrade it (well it could be nice if someone could tell me how the hell to install windows straight). And everything went smoothly till couple of days ago when during the installation I got a BSOD and then I was just restarting it over and over and over again till it worked. But now the windows won't freaking load...without any new hardware installed and all that. The thing is that Win98 installs fine but WinXP...

This suggests an illegal copy of a Win XP installation disk - if this is the case we cannot help you. Please clarify the situation.

Set the boot order in BIOS to CD-ROM > Floppy > Hard Drive and boot from the CD.

Yes the Cd is just fine (worked very well a couple of days ago...)
I mean by the silly problem that there was a problem everytime i wanted to load windows something like SYSTEM/CONFIG and sometimes it wouldn't load. Usually did, depends on its mood and my patience

Okkkkk.... so there was already a pb with xp before u tried to reinstall it??
    or was it with 98?
or am I totally lost here????

    sum up :
-ur comp is old but partly upgraded
-u have xp installed on it
-it's suddenly dead : u take it to a lab where they just put "a chip" back in place. Comp then works fine.
-for a few months now, u had that "silly pb" when xp starts, so u decided to reinstall it. Previous to install xp, u set up w98.
-now the xp set up crashes, but u managed to complete the set up. BSOD when u start xp, but not in safe mode.

    Is that correct??
