    At a guess, either video driver problems (probable) or a physical problem with the video card (possible).

    I'd suggest downloading the latest drivers for your video card. If you aren't positive what you are running, download and run Everest Home Edition.

    Once you have the latest drivers stored on your hard drive, use device manager to remove the video card and then reboot. When the system starts up and wants to load the video card, point it to the files you downloaded.

    Yup. Take a look Here and use the indicated tools to generate a dump file then post it here. Very possibly too long for a single response and you may have to post it in two pieces.

    The event log entries point toward a problem but don't contain enough info to diagnose - just to give a hint where to look next.

    *----> Stack Back Trace <----*
    I used the search command to look for any .DMP file but with no success. may I also add that only when I click on the Desktop tab in the display properties gives me this problem otherwise I can change display screensavers etc. without any problems. and another thing is that when I restart the computer after this problem is that while shutting down a window pops up trying to shut rundll32.exe, maybe this is of any help
