Mission Statement

I made desktop shortcuts from the My Computer screen for the ZIP, DVD and
CD-RW drives.
I want to replace the default icons with the ones that have a picture of a
CD and, in small writing, "DVD-RAM" and "CD-RW" that appears in the icon
selection window.
When i click right-click on the shortcut and select Change Icon, a window
opens that shows all the icons available.
Changing the ZIP Drive (G:\) worked fine but when i try to change the icon(s)
for either the DVD or CDRW drives I get the following message:
"The name 'I:\' specified in the target box is not valid. Make sure the path
and file name are correct."
"H" is the DVD Drive and "I" is the CDRW. Both drives are functioning fine as
to reading and writing data.
What am i doing wrong?

Some suggestions...
The shortcut has lost connectivity, not sure why, but it happens. Some suggestions. Hit F5 to refresh the desktop. This may enable the shortcut path.
Place a CD in each drive and see if you can explore and eject it from right clicking the icon. Hitting F5 again to refresh whilst a CD is in the drive.
Delete all offending icons. Open My Computer and recreate the CD icons again, working through the above.
The Start in: shouldn't contain anything. The target box should contain (as example) D:\
Check in Admin tools/Computer management/Disk Management that the CD drives have the correct drive letter assigned. Right click the drive here to modify if necessary.

When it first happened to me it took sometime to figure out how to fix it. At first I thought one of the registry cleaners I use had deleted a needed entry. But I still regularly clean the registry, and haven't had the problem for a year or more.
