Creating Boot CD

I need a WinXP boot CD or floppy, if it would fit.

My emergency recovery CD with my system boots but tries to restore the system. It cannot because my boot drive is partitioned and this CD requires a one partition drive. (Never will get into that problem again)

I managed with a kludge to get my system up and running but will not turn it off until this is fixed.

My System

tenbob, It'll all fit on a floppy. Just make sure you format the floppy on a XP machine. Then copy the bootloader files to it. There are three of them:

NTLDR
NTDETECT.COM
BOOT.INI

When finished copying, write protect the floppy just to be safe.

That's all! Boot with that in the floppy drive and you'll be booted all the way into Windows, bypassing the bootloader files on the root. You can then copy any of these floppy files to the root of the boot HD as needed.

I'm not sure if this is what you want so let me know if you had something else in mind.

For a simple boot disk:
Go to http://www.mirrors.org/archived_sof...om/original.htm
Download xpboot, put an empty Floppy Disk in drive and Click xpboot. Name it something you will remember. Start with the disk in the drive. It changes the letter on your CD drives, and shows you what they are on the first screen. Write them down so you remember. (Mine are R & S).
