    hello over there,
i've got this problem, can please someone help me out, i'm dead without my
    pc...

I own a hp pavilion laptop, Athlon processor, and i've just recovered my
system reinstalling windows xp with the System Recovery CD. Now, after some
stand-by, my computer freezes and won't open again if rebooted. (I get the
Windows logo, with the blue charging bar status). In safe mode, I've
tried to set off the screen saver and the standby options, but nothing
changes. I've tried to Recovery the Windows again but i get the same result.
Maybe this could help you out: In the Microsoft Management Console, I get a
message telling me the devmgmt.msc file does not exist.

If i use sfc /scannow in safe mode i get this message:
Windows File Protection could not be initiate a scan of protected system files. The specific code is 0x000006ba [The RPC Server is unavailable.].

to make things clear, my computer freezes if i don't use it for a while, i mean, i could work on it for days and everything goes fine, but when i leave it on for half an hour or something without touching the mouse everything freezes and on reboot i can't get in windows any more. i can get in only in safe mode.

    can somebody help me out?

    alan

Have you turned off power managment?

Might also look in go to device manager->network adaptor->properties and turn off the power saver feature.

If RPC service isn't running you will see all of the problems you speak of.

Try clicking on start, on run, keying in services.msc and clicking OK. When you get the services list, take a look and make sure you have only the two RPC entries and that both look like the picture below (click on the thumbnail to expand it) with the top one automatic and started and the next one manual and not started.

If you find the top RPC not running, right-click and try to start it. If it will not, you probably are infected with a virus.

Post back and let us know.
