    Hi,

Dell desktop at work, which I now have to use :( . Win XP pro. I have to call up different files for printing. When a new Window is opened it is out of focus on the screen, then slowly adjusts into focus. I have had focus problems on other machines, but they have been that, just out of focus and don't change, but this readjusts the focus and becomes clear (and gives me a headache). Any ideas?

I've been into Device Manager, but don't have administration rights....adminstrator is...eerrr.. "busy with the big problems" and is based a few hundred kilometers away (about 0.6 or 0.7 miles for you old world people :) ). I would like to know if anyone has seen it before.

    Thanks if you can.
    Matt
PS does not happen on any of the other clones.
PS #2 This post has gone into into the Windows XP forum. I tried to post it to the Hardware forum. Drat...administration rights again :D .

    Strange one Matt!
Have you turned off all the fade menus and animations? You should be able to do that as a restricted user.
I'm wondering if it's something to do with the graphics card settings, or the graphics driver/install. You'll have to get the admin. for that.

Have you thrown another monitor on it?

Most of our work machines are locked down as well. Can't do much then. :(
I officially/unofficially have an admin password but need to be carefull not to abuse the priveledge though. Such is workplace politics. ;)

Cheers Paul, maybe some chance, which I didn't expect. Will adjust those settings. Err...not sure about the fade menus, where do you find those?

    Matt,
To control the menu visualizations... right-click 'MyComputer'-> select 'Properties' -> click the 'Advanced' tab -> under 'Performance' click 'Settings'... visual effects. You can turn them all off or select on an individual basis. HTH
