    Posting this for a neighbor who asked me this but I don't have an answer.

    Running Win XP.
    Neighbor would like to know... "In the good old days of DOS commands, it was possible to print out the directory by combining the DIR and the PR commands. Do you know whether this is possilbe under Windows? "

    Old "DOS" print directory commands in XP

    Yes, the 'old' DOS commands are still there in XP. Open a cmd window with Start|Run|Open and typing in 'cmd'. I get my printed directory listings by porting the directory listing to a text file and using 'notepad' to print them.
    example: DIR>DirectoryTextFile.txt
    Find out the directory list options by typing 'dir/?' in a cmd window

    M$ suggests building a .bat file ->

    For a convenient command syntax reference, create a shortcut with the following target line:

    %windir%\hh.exe ms-its:C:\WINDOWS\Help\ntcmds.chm::/ntcmds.htm

    Might also want to take a look at the following program;
