    Hey,
For some reason the theme manager in display propertys will not save my current theme? When I try and save it it just doesn't do or save anything and gives me no error or insite as to what the problem is. Is there a way to fix this or is there a good freeware app that does a better job of handling windows themes?

    Thanks
    Rockit

    Hey Charles,
I've tried the tweak from Kellys Place and I still cannot SAVE and themes. It just doesnt do anything after you select a name and location for the *.theme file? Is there a way to uninstall the theme manager and reinstall it? Or maybe get it off the windows xp sp2 cd and copy it to where the exe is located? I don't understand why it won't save any themes I create but it does let me select and apply different themes ok.

    Thanks Again

    Rockit,

I just remembered, there was a long thread on this, and Zander came up with the answer in that instance.

Go into the Desktop tab > customize bar at the bottom > in the Desktop items dialog box > web tab. If the web page box is checked, uncheck it.

    Regards - Charles

Thanks for the help Charles but that didn't work either? I'm going to fix this somehow but it is annoying that I can't save my theme.

    Weird Huh

Check the C:\documents and settings\your username\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows\Themes folder this is where your theme should be saved to.

    Hey Paul,
Nothin there? All the themes are saved in c:\windows\resources\themes

It lets me start the save to process and I can pick where to save it to and I can also pick a name for it but when I hit save it exits like it saved the file but when I go back to look for it nothings there? I did find a copy of the old themes.exe from the MS Plus addon and it will save the theme but windows xp theme manager gives me an error when it trys to open it. Something about all the componets of the theme are not in the right location? So it won't load it. It did work once though because I made a theme with all the same componets that I have now except the wallpaper and it worked about a week ago. And just so ya know I don't have a restore point to go back to.

    Thanks
    Rockit

Well I logged in on a new account to see if the theme manager would work and I'm still getting the same thing. It works for applying themes but will not save them.

    Anybody?

    Windows Xp Repair

I ran the Windows xp sp2 slipstreamed CD to repair a few items. The problem now is I can create theme's and save them but when I reboot Windows defaults to the classic view? I'm trying to apply the royale theme and I can and all looks good and everything is saved and restored (icon's, cursors, wallpaper) except the royale theme? It use to work before the repair?
I've tried all of Kelly's tweaks..

    Any Idea's out there?

    Thanks
    Rockit
