I would like to make the icon text black, but the only thing I can find is how to change the font. Anyone know how to do this? Thanks!

The only way I've found is to use white, yellow, light blue or pale green background.

Well, that is why I ask. I have a white background and can hardly see the icon text. The only reason why they are even somewhat readable is the shadow. How do make them black with a white background?

Try switching to classic view, and make sure desktop is set to none. Then on appearance>advanced, change desktop to black, OK and apply, then go back to white.

I tried in Classic (Oh, YUCK! :p ) and then in XP, with a white background, and the icon text was in black. I use 768X1284 resolution. I'm sorry, but i can't recreate the problem you are having.
