I used this one:
http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase...slipstream.asp

But this Arie geezer from this site also did one:
Slipstreaming Windows XP Service Pack 2 and Create Bootable CD

Take your pick they're both good.

Slipstreaming the SP2 update files into the original Windows XP CD files is really simple. Most of the instructions really have to do with how to configure Nero. I used the instructions from two sites to do this. The first, I'm Not a Geek, had an easier method to merge the files. It was a one step method. The second, Arie’s Windows-Help.net, had clearer instructions on configuring Nero.

You will also need ISO Buster. The program is part free and part pay. You just need the free part of the program. The IT version of SP 2 is just fine.

http://www.windows-help.net/WindowsX...p2-bootcd.html

http://www.smart-projects.net/

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

1) You make 3 folders. As a matter of fact, I would recommend that you just name the folders: Folder 1, Folder 2, Folder 3. All this naming folders XP this and XP that will get your eyeballs spinng!

a) Copy the Windows CD to Folder 1
b) Download the SP2 files to Folder 2. Rename the file to sp2.exe and it will make things easier.
c) Extract the boot file from the original Windows CD to Folder 3 using Iso Buster.

2) From Run (start>run) C:\Folder 2\sp2.exe -s:c\Folder 1\

(C:\ assumes folders on C:\ drive) This will automatically and simultaneously extract the SP2 files to a temp folder AND update the Win XP CD files in Folder 1. In about 2 minutes you will have a slipstreamed Windows XP SP2 in Folder 1.

3) Now burn to Nero. See web site for instructions.

Arie's site has graphic instructions on how to extract and how to configure Nero.

1) Insert the CD in a CD drive
2) Execute ISO Buster and have it directed to the correct CD drive.
3) In the LEFT Window, drop the tree until you see "Bootable CD." Double click on it
4) In the RIGHT Window will appear two files. Double click on the "Microsoft Corporation.img" file.
5) A popup menu will appear. The first selection will appear in BOLD. "Extract Microsoft Corporation.img" Double Click on that.
6) Extract it to Folder 3.

Now you are ready to burn to Nero. See Arie's site. There is a lot of configuring that is beyond me right now to explain. It's easier graphically. But it will ask you where the boot files are: Folder 3. Then you will have to configure a bunch of stuff. Then you add Folder 1 and burn!

You got the right CD in the drive? You got ISO Buster reading the right drive? Did you drop down the tree until you got to "Bootable CD"? What files do you see when you double click "Bootable CD?"

Are you using a CD that was burned with Nero? It looks that way. When you burn the CD using Nero the name of the Microsoft.img gets changed to Arnes Boot Record.img. I burned mine using Easy CD Creator and it changes the name of the file to Bootimage.img. I'd just try extracting the Arnes Boot Record.img file and then rename it to Microsoft.img. I would guess the two files are the same.

Zander I just learned something new about the boot.img My SP1 slipstream was burned with Roxio and My SP2 slipstream was burned with Nero. I also have the original. Darn if all the .img files have a different name.

I made it to step 2 and this is the error message i got. It started to extract the files and after that i got the following error message.

Failed to copy some or all of the files necessary for integrated install.

Please check that:
a) No network or copy errors occurred during the integrated process
b) The format of the destination directory is correct. The files to be integrated must reside in an i386 and/or ia64 or nec98

directory
(i.e. for an i386 share, if you typed "update /s:c:\cdshare", the files must be in the c:\cdshare\i386 directory).

How do i fix that??

Oops!! It happened again...

It appears as though Derek Santamassino and I are witnessing the same problem. I encountered the same error as described above when entering the command "C:\Folder 2\sp2.exe -s:c\Folder 1\."

While the majority of individuals who've slipstreamed the SP's onto their Windows XP software don't seem to experience problems like this, I've run across a number who have been stumped by this problem.

Hey,
I'm getting the same error as you all when I try and use this command? "update /s:\XP-CD"
Someting about the location of the i386 folder not being correct? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
