Whenever I click on an icon on my desktop it takes forever to come up. My wifes account on the same computer works fine. Any ideas why this is happening? Thanks.

    Hi Chuck,
Is this the same program icon for both users? Are all of your icon's slow in response and the wife's are faster?

From your login try the following...
Go into Documents and Settings and from within you login delete everything from within the Temp folder.

You may have a corrupted login and may need to create another/new user and transfer all your settings/data. The MS KB site tells how to do this.

Go into the prefetch folder in Windows and delete everything from within.

    Run the defragmenter.

    Question

Does anyone know if it's possible for adware or spyware to effect only one user of a multiuser computer?
