    This is what I want:

This is what I get next time I open it:

I need to resize width every time I want to place two windows side by side. Surely there is a simple fix I'm just unaware of...

XP Pro SP1 using "classic folders"
    Thanks!

It should remember the last size that it closed at.

From WE, Tools> Folder Options> View tab
Make sure "remember each folder's view setting" is ticked (won't hurt to toggle it, if it already is, either)
Close WE, reopen it and set your windows the way you want them by dragging the sides. Close each by clicking on the X with the Control key pressed down. Windows should "remember" the setting, now. If it helps or not, post back!

who would be really pleased if she got just one itty bitty thing right, today!

I solved the need to resize "every single time" problem by reloading the OS, but that size data is still lost constantly. It will still reset all the folders quite often and I can’t, (never could) figure out why. I will also lose the desktop position of the window, once reset it could open anywhere on the screen. Btw, all this only applies to folders, the window size/position for programs including Internet Explorer usually stays set for months.
The "remember each folder's view setting" is ticked and toggled.

    Thanks guys

Arie: Very interesting, it never occurred to me that there was a limited number that it could remember. Maybe I was full? Full of something anyway.
I made the reg changes and set to 4000, I guess time will tell. I’ll post in a week or so if it seems to be working, sooner if it doesn’t

Thank you gentlemen for your help, it is appreciated!

I had trouble quickly after that last post. Lots of HD activity and locking up. Re-ghosted and tried again w/ same results.
So far so good, without any reg changes, but I'm not currently loaded down with data either. Still not sure if memory for 200 folders means 200 folders period, or 200 different setting. I only want one setting, but for all folders. I'm thinking maybe after I've opened 200 different folders it starts to get lost? But that wouldn't make sense, MS would've raised that # years ago.

I will post later if I discover anything worth sharing.

Thanks Digerati (my new word for the day). That makes two things I've learned today.

    Keep Window The Same Size

A fast way of getting it to stay the same size is to hold down the space bar while you click on the X to close it out....When you reopen it...It will be the same size as you set it.
