Question windows auto update problem

i switched from dialup, where i turned off auto updateing because i am impatient, but now that i have cable i dont remember how i "fixed it" so i can unfix it. the icon that is supposted to be next to the clock isnt there anymore, what do i do?

Running XP Pro

ps. how can anyone go back to dialup???

My System

Many here, myself included, would recommend that you leave it off, but if you right click My Computer and choose properties, you will find a tab for auto update.

forget about it, i just found out that i can download updates manually :-)

Thanks for the help though, AutoUpdate is a real pain
