I have a new HP computer and after getting all my old "stuff" put into it I went to the Windows Update to see if I needed to update anything. There was a driver update for RealTek and the update was called KB833846. This update is suppose to help when playing games with sound that can sometimes cause a conflict. Up until that point I didn't have a problem but updated anyway. Then in the middle of playing a game on Pogo, my computer would suddenly reboot. I have since rolled back to the old driver but now sometimes get an error message that is called OPWINXPAPP upon starting up Windows. Has anyone a clue to what all this means? I do have all the windows updates and am using Windows XP Home Edition with SP1 (it came with the SP1) and I used IE 6 for my browser. Thank you in advance.

Do you think you could get us the exact error message?

    Corrected Error Name

I think I AM the village idiot, Daizy. The correct name of the error I receive upon start is: OPXPApp.exe.

    Sounds like your scanner.
    Go to start....then run
    Type in msconfig
Click on the start up tab
Look for it in there. Uncheck it. Click apply, then Ok, then it will ask to reboot. Do so.
When it reboots, you'll get another dialogue box telling you it's using selective start up. Put a check mark in that box and click ok.

You could very well be right about the scanner. It's one of those HP all-in-one things and has caused problems in the past with my old computer. I'll try what you suggested and see if that helps. Thanks again for your very prompt reply!!
