What was the exact program that you think caused the problem? Do you have a link?

i not very sure. if u click start menu and right click the control panel. It only show open or explore. I can't click both of them because end up slow down the PC and nothing show up.

I can get into control panel or My computer now by open IE 6.0
then type in c:\ then click the right side open up address again.
I can find my computer control panel etc etc.

I believe that the start menu and other shortcut key all cannot
    enter to this 2 function.

Thing i going to do soon - if 2 days i can't find answer. Maybe i will delete the folder start menu inside windows. then reinstall by
rewrite the windows folder. maybe there will make new start menu for me to use. Hope u all agree will my idea??????

If this software was recently installed and nothing else has been installed, that cannot be reinstalled, why don't you use system restore to restore to a point in the registry prior to the antispam program?
One way to get there is....
From the startbutton>run line type msinfo32 and from it's top toolbar/menubar click on "tools" then "system restore ".

=====Saw this on another site and am passing it on====
While it doesn't make sense that any of these settings would have changed simply by the described antispam program install/uninstall, it's still worth an experimental shot.

Balky Start Menu After Booting Computer
A number of people have reported a problem with the Start Menu items being non-responsive after booting and logging into XP. The menu items can be selected via mouse or keyboard, but remain unresponsive for up to two minutes after login.

    To restore Start Menu responsiveness:

If You Are NOT Part Of A Network

Click [Start] [Run], type MSCONFIG and click [OK]
    Click the [Services] tab
Remove the checkmark from 'Workstation' and click [Apply] [OK]
    Reboot the computer.
A 'reminder' or 'nag' screen will appear telling you that services have been disabled. Disable the reminders.

If You Are Part Of A Network

Click [Start] [Control Panel] [Network and Internet Connections]
    Click [Network Connections]
Right click your network connection and select [Properties]
    Uncheck [File and Print Sharing]
    Reboot the computer.
If needed, repeat the above steps and check [File and Print Sharing] followed by another reboot.

The items on the [Start Menu] should be functioning normally.

===This mysterious misbehaved software would be???======
What's the name of software antispam program? Perhaps a looksee should be done.

===Do you have the icons on the desktop?====
Just curious. You said the startmenu is giving you a hissy fit but you can open it/them from Explorer. Have you tried the desktop icons?

thank for yr help. But it not working.
i click restore and the winxp only allow me choose 2 days ago.
After that, XP auto reboot and it said something like
unable to restore the date i selected. Restore terminate.....

i find that this stupid autospam too clever. There don't allow me
to go my computer, control panel, Command prompt, Safe mode
when start up. This program know i will going to do all this step
but i guess we can't because there already think advance.

But too bad , i using 3rd party to remove it. But the problem
is still there. ***** NOW new problem come today,
Normal boot up into XP, my PC very slow. Just to open a start menumust wait for 8 to 10 min. Cannot open IE anymore.

** Can anyone tell me which folder to save inside windows folder
so that: i don't need to reinstall those MS word, games etc etc

Because i want to clean install but keep the start menu setting and program setting......

It sounds like you have real problems. Do a virus scan with recent definitions if you haven't done so. Do this even if you plan to reinstall since you don't want to back up viruses, too.

If System Restore is not working anyway, turn it off to clear all backups.

Use Ad-Aware if you have it.

For help with saving things, go to Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools, and use the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard.

For the rest, you will need to go through all your applications and documents and see what you want to back up. If you need help with anything specific, let us know (Outlook Express, Favorites, Cookies, e.g.).

I will call it a virus. Because any program harmful to own
computer and doing something funny to my PC or to other
is already a virus. I using Anti virus 2004. Saturday i just
    update it.

I used to overwrite Winxp without format or change folder name.
But all setting still there. That why i know there is a way
i can keep the setting so that i don't need to install alot of
    program.
